Kaeno, a graduate based in Kilgoris, Narok County, is a shining example of the potential of digital skills and technology in securing meaningful employment.

The President officially inaugurated the Ildrisho Comprehensive School Konza Digital Skills in Kilgoris, Narok County, and later broke ground on the construction of the Kenya Utarii College Ildrisho Campus.

President Ruto met with Mr. Kaeno and shared his story on social media, highlighting the young graduate’s success in leveraging his Konza digital skills to generate income online.

“Abraham Reteipa Caeno is a powerful story about how young people can effectively use technology for self-employment. Through Konza Digital Skills, the 29-year-old Kilgoris University graduate has I earn $500 (KSh 68,000) online job,” Ruto told X.

How the Ruto government is promoting online employment

Through initiatives such as Konza Digital Skills, Kaeno was able to earn an average of $500 weekly, demonstrating the transformative power of technology to create economic opportunity.

The government is rolling out a number of initiatives to equip young people with the skills they need to take advantage of online job opportunities, including the Finya Computer Free Online Training Programme.

Despite positive progress in promoting online employment, challenges remain, as evidenced by the recent suspension of operations in Kenya by Remotasks, a global company known for its microtask platform.

Government invites applications for free graphic design training

The Ministry of Labor has opened applications for graphic design training to strengthen Kenya’s involvement in the digital economy.

This training is scheduled for April 8-12, 2024 and will be conducted virtually over five days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., covering cross-cutting, basic, and advanced Ajira digital curriculum. covers various modules.

After training, participants will participate in a 4-week flexible mentorship program that includes two weekly virtual sessions (2 hours each) and chat-based mentorship.
