Detroit – Detroit’s Rattlesnake Club Restaurant has closed after 36 years in business.

“We are grateful to our loyal customers for their support over the years, and most importantly, we thank our dedicated employees for their faithful service,” Mark Tuttle, executive vice president and CFO, said in a statement.

The restaurant opened in 1988. Tuttle said business never recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Changes in dining habits, office occupancy and traffic volumes since the COVID-19 pandemic have negatively impacted revenue, and private events, which have always been a mainstay of our business, have not recovered,” Tuttle said.

Tuttle said employees were informed about the closure on Saturday, June 29, and were offered severance pay.

“After 36 years, Rattlesnake Club Restaurant will close on June 28th. We are extremely grateful to our guests for their patronage over the years, but most importantly, we are grateful for the loyal service of our dedicated employees. These skilled professionals are focused on serving the finest food and exceptional customer service, which has maintained the restaurant’s long-standing reputation since opening in 1988. Since the COVID pandemic, changes in dining habits, office occupancy and traffic have negatively impacted revenue. Private events, which have always been a mainstay of our business, have not recovered. Employees were informed of the closure today (June 29, 2024) and have been offered severance pay.”
