Fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi made a stunning debut on the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in a pink ruffled dress with a long train. Her self-made gown, which took her a month to create, received widespread attention and praise on the internet, including from actor Sonam Kapoor and fashion critic Sufi Motiwala.

In an Instagram post, Tyagi revealed that the gown was sewn from 1,000 meters of fabric and weighed more than 20 kilograms. “It feels surreal to be standing on the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as your debut film. This pink gown was painstakingly crafted and took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighs over 20 kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment has been worth it. I am filled with joy and gratitude for your love and support. Your support has made this a dream come true. I hope my work captivates you as much as it inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” she wrote.

Who is Nancy Tyagi?

Born in Baranwa, Uttar Pradesh, Nancy Tyagi rose to fame with her videos recreating costumes worn by celebrities. Over the past few years, Tyagi has replicated many designer outfits worn by celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt. Tyagi wore the Louis Vuitton dress that Padukone wore to the 2023 Oscars and the puff-sleeved dress that Bhatt wore to the Red Sea International Film Festival from London-based Korean designer Miss Sohee’s Spring 2023 couture collection. In her video, Tyagi starts by showing an original design. She then takes viewers on a search for her fabrics in shops around Delhi, stitches her fabrics in front of the camera, and finally reveals the final look.

Tyagi is popular for her videos of making costumes from scratch and boasts over 9,30,000 followers on Instagram and over 1 million subscribers on YouTube. She attended the 2024 Cannes Film Festival as part of the Brut India delegation.
