Join the Whirlpool Foundation in celebrating their second year of support of Michigan Council of Women in Technology’s (MCWT) STEM event, Girls Rock IT. This spring, local girls in grades 2-8 dove into the exciting world of coding and app development. Elementary school students got started coding with Scratch, and middle school students built their own apps using MIT App Inventor, all in one day.
Parents and guardians were also encouraged to get involved, many of whom attended sessions on internet safety and careers in tech to help support their girls’ tech aspirations.
With high demand for technology talent and a continuing lack of women in the field, the Whirlpool Foundation remains committed to showcasing inspiring Whirlpool Corp. IT role models and helping young women in Michigan pursue promising technology careers.
