However, the ban did not sit well with social media users and Mumbai residents, who slammed authorities for calling Ambani’s wedding a “public event.” In response, one user wrote, “According to the press note, if it’s a public event, Mumbai residents should come and eat good food and congratulate the couple.” Another commented, “Mumbai Police is a useless department. They are calling a private wedding a public event. Pathetic.”
“Nonsense. How can you inconvenience people and stop them from coming to your office for a private event? Why not hold the event after working hours? @Dev_Fadnavis please @CPMumbaiPolice Look, traffic is already chaotic in BKC as public roads have been taken over for this event,” responded a third user. “What public event?” another wrote.
Filmmaker and comedian Varun Grover slammed the Mumbai Traffic Police, writing, “Monarchy creating anarchy. #PublicEvent lol.”
