Indiana appears inclined to capitalize on its long-term relationship with Atlanta-based point guard Myles Rice.

The Washington State transfer was scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend, but it was canceled, On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw reports.

“This afternoon, officials heard that Mr. Rice had canceled his visit to Auburn,” Shaw said in his report. The same officials now say they doubt Rice will ultimately choose Indiana. ”

Shaw predicted Rice would transfer to IU.

247Sports national analyst Travis Branham also predicted Thursday that Indiana would acquire the rookie guard.

There is some speculation that Rice will visit Indiana in the near future, perhaps this weekend, but for now it appears to be a formality.

Rice played with IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond during his summers in Atlanta when he was in high school. Both are from the Atlanta area.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Rice broke WSU freshman records for single-game points, single-season points, single-season steals, single-season assists, single-season field goals and singles. -Season free throw percentage record. He averaged 14.8 points per game and led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 16 years.

Rice had 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. His shooting splits were 43.9 percent overall, including 27.5 percent from three and 81.1 percent from the stripe.
