The managing director of a global investment banking firm was caught on camera punching a man in the face, knocking him down, on the street in Brooklyn, New York, the company told NBC News on Monday.

The video, which includes violent and foul language, was posted to X on Sunday and had been viewed more than 12 million times by Monday afternoon. In the video, the man is seen swinging his fist at an unidentified person’s face. The two then fall to the ground next to what appears to be another person who is struggling. The man then walks off in the opposite direction, turning to bystanders to defend himself, according to the video.

“She shit all over me,” the man said, with liquid appearing to splatter on the back of his jacket.

The 10-second video does not show what happened in the moments leading up to the altercation, which appears to have happened on Saturday in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood, hours after the area’s annual LGBTQ Pride Parade.

Investment bank Moelis & Co. released a statement on Sunday confirming that the man seen in the video was one of its employees.

“We have been made aware of a serious incident involving one of our employees in Brooklyn on June 8,” Moelis & Co. said in a statement. “We are taking this matter very seriously and are investigating.”

Moelis & Company confirmed to NBC News on Monday that the employee seen in the video was the company’s managing director, Jonathan Kaye.

Kaye and the user who shared the video, X, did not respond to requests for comment. The user who shared the video does not appear to be the person who filmed it.

Recommendation

A NYPD spokesman said in a statement that police had seen the video but had not filed a police report. The Brooklyn Pride Board, which runs the Brooklyn Pride festival, also said in a statement that the unidentified woman in the video had not come forward.

“Brooklyn Pride has reviewed the video link, which appears to have occurred after the parade had concluded, and has forwarded the footage to the local police department,” the Brooklyn Pride committee said in a statement. “Brooklyn Pride condemns violence of any kind and will continue to monitor this abhorrent incident.”

It is unclear whether the unidentified woman seen in the video attended the LGBTQ event.
