The Startup State Initiative is part of Gov. This new initiative will focus on Utah’s many resources and ensure that Utah’s economic opportunities are widely shared to all corners of the state.

To further solidify Utah into the international business community, Governor Cox recently led strategic trade missions to the United Kingdom, France, and Mexico, all with the goal of strengthening commercial relationships, establishing trade opportunities, and supply chains. As important trading partners, the UK-Utah relationship creates $7.45 billion in trade opportunities. Governor Cox has signed an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with the UK Trade Secretary to further strengthen this important relationship.
France is Utah’s third largest export market within the European Union. France’s trade mission to the Southern Region has led to a signed Letter of Intent, and academic cooperation is already being fostered, including a signed partnership for student exchange between the University of Utah and the University of the Cote d’Azur.
The visit to Mexico, one of Utah’s most important trading partners, led to the creation of a historic alliance known as the Utah-Mexico Joint Partnership. This partnership will strengthen the economic relationship between Utah and Mexico, support Utah’s strong Latino business community, and create collaborative business opportunities for years to come.
If Utah wants to continue its economic success in 2024 and beyond, it must continue to invest capital in the private sector, create jobs, and support the state’s growing economy. As state leaders examine Utah’s economic situation, they focus on what makes Utah a great place to do business: the people, policies, and opportunities to help all communities achieve sustained prosperity.
