MUMBAI: While fashion is an acquired taste, style is more linked to the inherent characteristics of an individual and displays class. While Bollywood style icons stun their fans with their trendy outfits every now and then, some of them go a step further to stamp their personality into their fashion statements.
Miller Rajput Kapoor, wife of Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor, also joins this ranks and says that for her, fashion is a reflection of personal style and individuality, and she is drawn to styles that exude understated sophistication.
“To me, fashion is a reflection of personal style and personality — expressing yourself through clothes and accessories in a way that feels authentic and comfortable,” she says.
“I’m drawn to style that exudes understated sophistication – pieces that are classic yet modern and can seamlessly transition from day to night,” says Mira, who is a brand ambassador for jewelry brand Perfectly Average. For her, fashion is about curating a wardrobe that makes her feel confident.
“I feel like I have learnt a lot over the last few years. It’s definitely a constant learning curve. For me, fashion is not just about following trends but about curating a wardrobe that expresses who I am and makes me feel confident. Every time I step out, my style is on point,” said Mira, who married Shahid in 2015.
How does she balance glamour with perfect mediocrity?
“Whenever I go out, I like to mix it up with glamour by staying true to myself and being confident in what I wear. It’s important to me to choose jewellery that brings out my personality and elevates my style without being over the top,” said the mum-of-two.
“Whether it’s adding some sparkle with accessories or choosing pieces that really stand out, I always aim for that balance.”
“And, hey, embracing my flaws has been a huge part of this journey because it makes me unique…So embracing my imperfections makes me feel like me,” she added.
Speaking about being the brand ambassador for the label, which was founded in 2021 by Tulsi Chhabra, Palak Chhabra and Vidhi Jhalani, Meera said that they create jewellery that combines simplicity and elegance.
“Their pieces are more than just accessories. They express understated beauty and blend naturally into everyday outfits. I love that they celebrate beauty in simplicity, which is in line with my personal style philosophy.”
