There are only two weeks left until the dreams of 64 college baseball teams come true.
I’m talking about the NCAA Tournament. For baseball, he’s one of the most complicated postseasons if you don’t pay attention.
Rather than having elimination rounds in each round like in basketball, college baseball has four teams divided into regions. These regional tournaments are round-robin and double-elimination.
There are 16 regions, so only 16 teams will advance. The higher-seeded teams then host a super regional, with the eight winners advancing to the College World Series.
Our North Carolina Tar Heels lead the ACC with a record of 39 wins, 11 losses (20 wins, 7 losses), and are one of the teams guaranteed to qualify for the postseason. They will likely become a regional host and if all goes well they could become a super regional host and a CWS team.
UNC remains one of the best hitting teams in the country, ranking 15th in Division I with a team batting average of .315.Starting infielder Gavin Gallagher leads the way with a .367 batting average, becoming one of eight Diamond Heel players to hit .300.
North Carolina State has emerged as the No. 5 seed nationally in D1Baseball’s latest NCAA regional projections. D1Baseball still has Alabama and his UNC Wilmington in the Chapel Hill area, and Fairfield will also be in attendance.

Alabama (32-19, 12-15) is doing well in the deep SEC, led by the top three teams in Tennessee (No. 1), Kentucky (No. 2) and Arkansas.
UNC-Wilmington (35-17, 19-5) is the team that North Carolina State swept to 11-0 in March and currently sits atop the CAA (Colonial Athletic Association). Fairfield (30-21, 18-3) leads his MAAC.
