The Denver Broncos wrapped up their mandatory minicamp last Thursday and will have a month off before training camp begins. Rookies begin training camp on July 17 and veterans on July 23.
The Broncos currently have two of their three starting cornerbacks locked down, with Patrick Surtin II starting on the outside and Ja’Quan McMillian starting in the slot, leaving the outside cornerback spot opposite Surtin open.
Their starters left the team in free agency.
Denver Broncos’ CB2 leaves in free agency

Fabian Moreau took over as CB2 in Week 7 and started the final 11 games. Morrow performed reasonably well, recording 46 tackles, 1 interception, 7 pass deflections and a 62.4 PFF grade. He remains a free agent.
Three players are competing for the CB2 position.
Cornerback #1

The first player competing for a starting spot will be Damari Mathis, a former fourth-round draft pick in his third season with the team, who has appeared in 33 games, with 17 starts.
Mathis took over as the starting cornerback after Ronald Darby tore his ACL in Week 5 of the 2022 season and played in the final 11 games. He recorded 65 tackles, seven pass deflections and a PFF grade of 65.6.
Mathis earned himself a starting spot heading into the 2023 season after appearing in 17 games, starting six, and recording 35 tackles, one pass deflection and a PFF grade of 35.2. The Broncos benched him and replaced him with Morrow.
Cornerback #2

The second player competing for the starting spot is Levi Wallace. Wallace is in his seventh year with his third team. He has played in 83 games, starting 70. In 2023, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in 16 games, starting nine, recording 38 tackles, two interceptions, 11 pass deflections and a PFF grade of 57.8.
Player #3

The third player competing for the starting spot is Riley Moss. A former third-round pick, Moss is in his second year. He missed training camp, the preseason and all three games due to a core muscle injury. He played in 14 games, recording six tackles in 23 defensive snaps and 265 special teams snaps.
Many believe Moss will be in the running to be the starter next season.
Will Riley Moss win the starting spot?
