Billy Bowman is already a bona fide star at the position, and if you ask someone to rank the top five players on Oklahoma’s roster, his name is sure to come up.
Let’s look at the future of the position in Norman. While Bowen’s future is still bright, Billy Bowman is a senior and will be leaving Norman for the NFL after this season. Former four-star prospect Robert Spears Jennings will have more responsibility this season. The 2024 freshman class adds a talented group of top-tier safeties in Michael Boganowski, Jaydan Hardy, Michael Patterson McDonald and Reggie Powers. Omarion Robinson, a four-star overall safety by 247Sports, is scheduled to announce his decision on July 6, with Oklahoma competing with Arkansas, Louisiana State and Oregon for his signing.
Robinson is a highly competitive defender who can disrupt the passing game. He has the athleticism to cover well and get the ball in the middle of the field. His footwork is top notch and he’s not afraid to come downhill to make runs. He was recently named Defensive Back MVP at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge.

Oklahoma has been steadily active in this race for some time now, taking an official visit in June and now it’s time to commit.
On Sunday afternoon, Chad Simmons of On3 predicted Robinson would commit to the Sooners.

With just days to go until signing, this projection is an eye-opener. Safeties coach Brandon Hall is adept at making successful acquisitions, and it would be foolish to write off the possibility that he could land another true blue-chip candidate.
With less than a week until his signing, the Sooners are in a prime position to add to their already sixth-ranked 2025 freshman class.
