Summer brings with it thoughts of summer cleanup, makeovers and of course the classic summer short cut. With humidity at its peak, staying comfortable becomes a top priority for everyone. Recently, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas was seen sporting a wavy bob hairstyle, showing off a different style. Though she opted for a simple hairstyle rather than a short cut, the chic bob is the new trend.
Keeping hair out of your face and feeling free from long locks, the classic bob never disappoints. Hairstylist Vipul Chudasama says, “The bob is a summer staple haircut that’s the perfect blend of style and comfort. It’s perfect for keeping hair off your neck for a cool, lightweight feel.”
Straight, messy, textured, it’s a versatile haircut that can be styled in any way and is easy to maintain. “Shoulder-length, collarbone-reaching and chin-length bobs are on trend right now,” says hairstylist Meghna Butani. “Keep it cropped and not too A-line or layered for easy styling. Use a gel or serum to pull the hair back and keep it sleek.”

Princess Bob
A sleek, symmetrical haircut parted in the middle gives a sophisticated look.
Bell Bottom Bob
A playful take on the classic bob, this style has slightly flared ends that resemble bell bottoms – perfect for adding volume and movement to your hair.
Cropped Bob
A shorter version of a chin-length bob, this style is edgy and modern, perfect for those looking for a bold change.
Cutting your hair can be fun for a change, but maintaining it requires effort. “A bob cut can be maintained with a well-timed haircut, such as once every two months,” suggests Bhutani. Other tips include using a good quality shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair healthy and moisturized, and avoiding heavy products.
Chudasama adds: “Use lightweight styling products like a volumising mousse or texture spray to add volume and definition. Blow dry your bob with a round brush to create volume at the roots and smooth ends.”
Doing a Bob Cut Correctly
If you have straight hair, use a large barrel tong to add texture and waves, or leave the ends straight.
If you have wavy hair, try a leave-in texture with a dab of leave-in conditioner.
If you have thicker hair, try keeping the inner layers a little shorter to help the top layer sit neatly on top and create a lighter looking style.
Use anti-frizz products to keep hair smooth and manageable, and lightweight serums and creams can help control volume without weighing hair down.
