SEOUL, June 28 (AJU PRESS) — The government and business organizations will celebrate Women Entrepreneurship Week next week with a range of events showcasing the achievements and challenges of female business owners.
This year’s festival, the third in its kind, will be held from Monday to Friday in Seoul and 18 regions across the country under the theme “K-Women Entrepreneurs: Opening Up New Opportunities on the Global Stage.”
The government has designated the first week of July as Women Entrepreneurship Week to support and inspire women entrepreneurs and address the gender gap in business leadership.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups, the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association (KWEA) and other organisations, will include an awards ceremony, a series of forums, online sales events, product exhibitions, a job fair and business consultations.
Additionally, overseas female ambassadors and representatives of foreign chambers of commerce in Korea will also be invited to facilitate global networking opportunities.
“Women-owned businesses account for more than 40 percent of all businesses and have become a pillar of the national economy,” said KWEA Chairwoman Lee Jeong-hee.
“I hope that through the third Women’s Entrepreneurship Week, many female entrepreneurs will find the courage and new breakthroughs to expand overseas, and that this will mark a turning point for further growth,” she said.
