In a recent interview with content creator Varun Maya, Sundar Pichai opened up about AI in the Indian market and his advice to the country’s engineers amidst the rise of this new technology. Mayya and Pichai met at Google headquarters after the company’s annual I/O developer event, which the video blogger jokingly dubbed the “AI Coachella.”

Varun Maya shared a 10-minute interview on YouTube. “Wow, what an honor! I had the pleasure of listening to an exclusive podcast with Sundar Pichai at Google I/O. Learn about the amazing advances in AI and how India is poised to ride this exciting wave of innovation. We’ll tell you more about what’s in place, and some more interesting insights!” he wrote.

At one point during the interview, Maya told Pichai: “I don’t know if you know this, but there is a whole industry in India that has been set up to help young Indians crack the FAANG interviews.” “Smart,” he added, but doesn’t focus on the fundamentals. He then asked Pichai how he would advise his up-and-coming software engineers to break out of the “competitive exam” mindset and prepare for the future.

“Real success comes from a deeper understanding,” Pichai said in his response. He then uses the iconic motoring scene from Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots to illustrate the difference between knowing something and understanding it.

“You have to understand the technology better so you can transition and do things,” Pichai said, adding that he always encourages people to do so. .

In the interview, he also talks about AI, rapper startups and creative implementation of artificial intelligence in the Indian market.
