Top decliners included Madras Fertilisers (down 7.68%), Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (down 7.10%), National Fertilisers (down 7.03%), The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (down 6.95%), Agro Phos India (down 6.82%), Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation (down 5.92%), Aries Agro (down 5.77%), Zuari Agro Chemicals (down 5.51%), Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals (down 5.10%) and Southern Petrochemicals Corporation (down 5.09%).
At around 10:39 am, the NSE Nifty50 index was trading at 24,189.5, down 243.71 points, while the 30-stock BSE Sensex was trading at 79,534.63, down 817.01 points.
Maruti Suzuki India (up 1.69 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 1.14 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (up 0.09 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (down 6.81%), Shriram Finance (down 2.81%), Hindalco Industries (down 2.78%), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (down 2.66%), Coal India (down 2.5%), Tata Steel (down 2.49%), Tata Motors (down 2.38%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 2.12%), HCL Technologies (down 2.04%) and Hero MotoCorp (down 1.89%) were among the decliners.
