Venu Sports, the upcoming sports streaming partnership between Disney’s ESPN (DIS), Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Fox (FOXA), announced its entire executive team on Tuesday.
It was previously announced that former Apple and Hulu executive Pete Distad would become CEO of the joint venture.
The team includes former executives from major entertainment, media, technology, sports and sports betting companies.
Chief marketing officer Brian Borkowski comes from FanDuel, senior vice president and communications officer Jessica Casano Antonellis previously led communications at SiriusXM, and chief business officer Tim Connolly previously worked at Apple, where he led subscriber growth for Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass.
“It was an exciting opportunity to have the opportunity to assemble the starting executive lineup that will be responsible for building the Venu organization, creating the culture, setting the pace for innovation and ultimately driving the future growth of the service,” said Distad.
“We sought out entrepreneurial minds with experience launching products that consumers love, growing high-performing teams and the ability to bring diverse perspectives to Venu Sports, and we’ve assembled an all-star group of individuals in their fields.”
The streaming service, announced in February, is set to launch this fall and comes as media companies face pressure from investors to scale their platforms and achieve profitability.
Venu Sports will combine the sports networks of each of the three companies, and together the new service will cover about 55% of the sports rights market in the U.S., according to Citi Research.
The platform says the service will be offered directly to consumers through a new app, and subscribers can also bundle the product with Disney+, Hulu and Max.
