Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new talented striker this summer and the north London team are due to close the deadline to land their top target.

As TEAMtalk exclusively revealed, Arsenal chiefs Eddie Nketiah has been told he is free to find a new clubSo we’re going to have to bring in a replacement for him.

Arteta is not entirely convinced that Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are capable of repeating the numbers recorded by the likes of Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak this season.

The Spaniard said that the young players from RB Leipzig Benjamin Sesco He could be the man to lead Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004.

The 21-year-old Sesco joined Leipzig last summer and has made 42 appearances for the German club, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists.

As reported on Saturday, Arsenal have submitted a first offer of around £47 million for the Slovenian centre-forward..

However, Leipzig are not going to let Sesco go for such a cheap fee and other clubs are also interested in signing him.

Arsenal expected to sign Benjamin Cesco soon

Sesco’s contract has a £55m release clause that runs until 2028 and Leipzig are demanding payment in full.

Arsenal are thought to be willing to pay a similar fee, as are London rivals Chelsea. They are also looking to sign a new striker this summer.

Sesco’s release clause expires at the end of June and according to respected transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal are trying to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Plettenberg insists “all parties involved” want a deal to be reached before the euro starts in less than two weeks.

Leipzig, on the other hand, believe he is worth much more and are doing everything they can to get him to sign a new contract and remove his release clause.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal make a better offer for Sesco in the coming days, matching the transfer fee, and whether Chelsea do the same.

Sesco undoubtedly has the qualities to become a world-class striker and a move to the Premier League would be considered attractive for him.

The allure of Champions League football reportedly gives Arsenal an advantage in the race to sign Sesco.
