(Washington, DC) – More than two-thirds of small business owners surveyed say they are paying for child care, according to a new report from Small Business Majority, a national small business organization with a network of 85,000 small businesses. more affordable and accessible to working parents and employers.

FFYF Executive Sarah Rittling recently participated in a White House Roundtable with the Small Business Association and other leaders in the child care and small business world and issued the following statement:

“As this new report shows, the challenge of childcare is also a business challenge. When childcare is difficult to find or too expensive to afford, it impacts young children, their families and employers. Exploring ways to ensure that all parents can find and afford the child care they need will require a variety of approaches, and will require efforts from both sides of the aisle and across the administration to expand policy and funding. I look forward to working with legislators on the sides of the family care program.”

Key findings from the report:

Childcare issues

policy solutions

More than two-thirds (68%) of small business owners believe policymakers need to take action to address childcare costs. These support a number of policy solutions to expand access and address costs.

In FFYF’s exclusive poll of small business owners, 88% of business owners agree that employees with young children are more likely to remain in the workforce if they have access to affordable, high-quality child care. 78% agreed that their business would be stable. Having access to affordable, high-quality child care for your employees creates a stronger foundation.
