LANSING, Michigan — Sen. Joseph Bellino on Monday applauded the announcement that more than $200,000 in Going PRO Talent Fund grants have been awarded to five businesses in Monroe and Hillsdale counties to help train local workers.

“Investing in our workforce is an investment in our future,” said Bellino, a Republican from Monroe. “Going Pro funding will support our economy by helping companies train local workers for high-skill, high-wage jobs in manufacturing and healthcare, helping workers gain valuable skills to earn higher wages. I have long supported these smart investments that support Michigan businesses and help improve the skills of our workers. Investing in our local people now will directly translate to future economic prosperity across our state.”

The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity offers Going PRO Talent Fund awards to employers through Michigan’s workforce system, commonly known as the Michigan Works Agency (MWA). Participating employers play a key role in defining their key training needs and then work with their local MWA and other partners to develop a strategic training plan.

In Monroe County, TWB Company LLC was awarded $72,390 to train 42 employees, Trailer Connection LLC was awarded $46,690 to train 25 employees and Advanced Heat Treat Corp received $12,460 to train seven employees. Each business is located in the city of Monroe.

In Hillsdale County, Ross Design and Engineering Inc. of Cement City was awarded $45,930 to train 57 employees, and Precision Gage Inc. of Hillsdale City was awarded $25,000 to train 14 workers.

Nearly 7,500 Michigan businesses have received Going PRO Talent Fund grants since the program began in 2014. To see a complete list of fiscal year 2024 grant recipients and learn more about the Going PRO Talent Fund, visit Michigan.gov/TalentFund .
