The President met young graduates of Kilgoris University on March 17, 2024 and shared the experience on social media.
The President revealed that the young graduate earns at least US$500 a week through Konza Digital Skills, which translates to about 68,000 lice.
He praised him as an example of how young people can secure meaningful employment by leveraging technology and the digital space.
The President made the update after inaugurating the Ildrisho Comprehensive School Konza Digital Skills in Kilgoris, Narok County.
“Abraham Reteipa Caeno is a powerful story about how young people can effectively leverage technology for self-employment. Through Konza Digital Skills, the 29-year-old Kilgorith University graduate has earned an average of $500 ($68,000) per week. shillings) from online jobs.
“We have officially opened the Ildrisho Comprehensive School Konza Digital Skills in Kilgoris, Narok County.We have since broken ground on the construction of Kenya Utarii College’s Ildrisho Campus.” Ruto said this in X.
Kenya Kwanzaa and focus on online recruitment
Among its initiatives is the “FINYA Computer Free Online Training Program.” This is a program launched to equip young people with digital skills to take advantage of online job opportunities.
This initiative, developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, aims to provide the essential knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the digital economy.
The goal is to prepare young people for digital and online work, enabling them to secure decent employment and earn income through gigs and freelance opportunities.
Earlier this month, Remotasks, a global company known for its microtask platform, announced it would cease operations in Kenya.
The announcement comes days after the president praised the company as a key player in the gig economy.

Unemployment remains a significant challenge as the government devises innovative ways to gain gainful and meaningful employment for Kenyans.
