LSU’s football staff continues to pursue James Simon from Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy as recruiting ramps up significantly this spring.

Simon, a four-star in the 2025 cycle, has traveled around the country numerous times over the past few months with an eye toward making his commitment known sooner rather than later.

The coveted running back has been acquired and courted by blue-chip programs from LSU to Texas to Notre Dame, but after his recent recruiting visit, Simon could be headed elsewhere.

It appears there is a new team leading Simon’s recruitment. Texas Longhorns.

I spoke with people familiar with Simon’s recruiting process and learned that four programs are in charge: LSU, Alabama, Texas, and Notre Dame.

Now, a new prediction is emerging that Simon will end up in Texas with Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns’ staff.

Recently, we’ve seen recruiting experts at both 247Sports and On3 tip their crystal ball predictions on the Longhorns as Texas gains momentum in its recruiting efforts.

Simon has visited Austin several times, with his most recent visit being the most notable, but there’s still time for LSU to regain some ground.

It’s important to note the damage Tigers running backs coach Frank Wilson has done on his recent recruiting journey.

LSU lands a 4-star top-150 commitment Kayden Durham That was last fall, before he even put pen to paper during the early signing period in December. Now, a highly coveted recruit is slated to join the Tigers this summer.

Looking to the future, Wilson & Company already has two initiatives in place for the 2025 cycle. harem berryAmerica’s No. 1 running back, and JT LindsayHe is the No. 5 prospect in the state of Louisiana.

With both Berry and Lindsey committed to the 2025 class, LSU has commitments from two of the nation’s top running backs, but that hasn’t stopped its pursuit of Simon.

Yes, LSU has a future running back room in Durham, Berry and Lindsay, not to mention current young players Caleb Jackson and Trey Holly. But at the end of the day, Wilson could potentially take over a back three in the 2025 cycle.

LSU will continue to track Simon into December, the early signing period when he begins to put pen to paper.

Although there are still not committed According to both recruiting services On3 and 247Sports, all signs continue to point to the Texas Longhorns beating out several programs and fulfilling their commitment sooner rather than later.

LSU Country will provide updates on Simon’s recruiting process as he progresses through his commitment schedule.
