Republicans are trying to hide the full cost of their proposed tax cuts from voters by smearing the recorder in advance.

The 2017 Trump tax cuts came at a huge cost. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) worked with the Joint Committee on Taxation to estimate that the law resulted in a $1.9 trillion budget deficit over 10 years. That figure included the economic growth benefits of the law, touted by Republicans at the time. Supporters of the law didn’t listen, and continued to argue that the tax cuts would more than pay for themselves.
