There is a fine line between protesting and rioting, and it must never be crossed. That is why I support the suspension or expulsion of pro-Palestinian student demonstrators. Because they crossed the line into protest with all the damage and fury of rioting. Privileged kids look for causes to champion and aspire to Abbie Hoffman’s Yippie Mojo or Hanoi Jane’s star power presence. Unfortunately, they are being impersonated on social media and staged by Russian and Iranian disinformation. They have been infiltrated by outsiders who have come into conflict with the police or who have moved to the university for the sole purpose of stirring up trouble. All the protests happening around the world will not stop, change or thwart Prime Minister Netanyahu’s mission to annihilate Hamas. This is the price we must pay at all costs for October 7th.
The protesters must believe that this region is somehow experiencing violence and death for the first time. Rightly or wrongly, the United States supports Israel as the only country in the Middle East with a functioning democratic government, and its election cycle eerily mirrors our own. Perhaps the students’ efforts would be better served by raising money for the Palestinians and donating that cash to World Central Kitchen, Feed the Children, the International Rescue Committee, or other charities on the ground in Gaza. right. This effort does not require police intervention.
Ironically, if the parents of the protesters have managed accounts that are sold to a number of brokerage firms, they are tying their funds to the very businesses that the students are demanding the university “sell” to them. There is a possibility that there are. An investment that may actually be paying for tuition. Obviously, the financial majors were not invited to this mayhem.
