WARSAW — Talent acquisition continues to be a competitive field. And the most popular communities seem to have common characteristics. It means making intentional efforts to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce.
Of course. Skilled employees increase productivity and help build brighter, more resilient communities, so it’s important to think creatively and proactively when attracting and retaining talent.
That’s why the Kosciuszko Economic Development Corporation works with local employers and community partners like OrthoWorx and the Kosciuszko Chamber of Commerce to provide purposeful talent attraction and retention support.
“We know that a talented workforce is a key contributor to sustaining long-term economic growth,” said Jessica Hawk, talent partner at Kedco. “When employers find people who not only have the skills they need for the job, but also find fulfillment in their role and community, that’s the ‘win’ we’re looking for.” satisfaction, productivity and retention.”
Kedco provides talent relocation support in a variety of ways through our organization’s talent initiatives. Our Red Carpet Concierge program provides customized community tours for new and prospective employees. “This program provides an intentional opportunity to introduce, connect and welcome people to Kosciusko County,” Hauck said.
Here’s how it works: After completing a quick survey that provides Kedco with valuable insight into their personal interests, participants will be taken on a tour of her Kedco. Tours include, but are not limited to, exploring areas of interest, visiting local schools, faith communities, and churches, learning about volunteer organizations, and discovering local dining and recreational amenities. .
In addition, Kedco will also assist with housing needs and carrier connectivity support for other family members in the relocating household. “Our housing and workforce efforts work together,” Hauck said. “We are actively working to bring more market-rate workforce housing to our community and provide viable options for new talent.”
Ms. Hauck shared an example of how she helped an employer quickly find housing for a newly hired employee. Mr. Mena Karen, Human Resources and Recruitment and Retention Manager for Maple Leaf Farms, contacted Hauck to ensure that he acted quickly to secure the perfect housing for his new team member, who would relocate and become a new member at Maple Leaf Farm. I was able to start my role. In just one week.
“Maple Leaf Farms is grateful for Kedco’s partnership and support. Kedco has been instrumental in our recruitment efforts, including identifying housing for new employees moving to the area and sharing insights about what Kosciusko County has to offer. We will support this without hesitation,” Karen said.
Kedco also regularly hosts human resources “think tank” conferences that bring together local human resources professionals to connect and have critical discussions about human resources challenges and opportunities. Brian Evans, Director of Outreach and Partnerships at INvets, was a guest at the Talent Think Tank meeting held at Kedco last month.
“INvets knows that Indiana communities like Kosciusko County have a lot to offer young professionals and their families. I love showing them the opportunities that primary partners provide,” Evans said.
INvets is a nonprofit organization founded by veterans for veterans to help them transition to civilian life, provide employment support, and provide appropriate access to veterans and their families to ensure their success and well-being. Find your community.
