LOUISVILLE – As previously announced, 11 farm stands in Pulaski County have been approved for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Farm Stand Program for 2024. The farm stands opening this summer are Hales Farm, Haney’s Appledale Farm and Woodstock Lavender Co. Barnett Farm, Glory Gardens & Greenhouse LLC, The Greenhouse Mum & Pumpkin Patch, Spring Hollow Farm and Summit Meats opened in the spring, with two more farm stands opening in the fall.

Located at 3115 Highway 461 in Somerset, Hail’s Farm is a family-owned farm offering seasonal, home-grown produce that is harvested daily. These include strawberries, spring flowers, six varieties of green beans, beets, cabbage, three varieties of sweet corn, two varieties of cucumbers, eggplant, pumpkins, zucchini, onions, red and white potatoes, green, red and yellow bell peppers, banana peppers, jalapenos, cantaloupe, and watermelon. The market sells a variety of tomatoes, including red, yellow, green, heirloom, Mr. Stripe, purple, grape, and canned. They also sell a variety of items, including peaches, apples, jams, jellies, Uncle Charlie’s meats, Mrs. D’s chicken salad with pimento cheese, Penn’s ham, and frozen meals. Haney’s Appledale Farm, located at 8350 W. Highway 80 in Nancy, offers a wide selection of apples and peaches, gift shop items and other seasonal fruits and vegetables. The pie shop sells homemade pies, cookies, muffins, caramel apples, slushies, jams, jellies, honey, sorghum and a variety of candies. Woodstock Lavender Co. is located at 13394 Highway 39 in Somerset. While lavender is not a widely grown crop in Kentucky, this small lavender farm has hundreds of fragrant purple plants blooming in late spring and early summer. The farm is owned by Allison Horsman and Mary Mae, a mother and daughter duo who are passionate about agricultural tradition and diversity. The farm grows several varieties of lavender and hosts seasonal events to educate local residents about lavender history and harvest.
