Poll strategist Prashant Kishor said investors’ disappointment would show up in the stock market if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fails to achieve its target of 370 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. In an interview with NDTV, Prashant Kishor gave an analogy to the corporate world, saying that if a company fails to meet its targets, the stock market punishes it even if its performance is not that bad.
He said in case of Lok Sabha elections, if the BJP wins less than 370 seats, the market could reflect a defeat.
“When expectations from companies are very high and they fail to meet those expectations despite good performance, the stock market punishes them. From this perspective, if the Bharatiya Janata Party has less than 370 seats, , this could become a hot topic. The market may also reflect this,” he said.
Calling the BJP’s 370-seat target a “sensible” move, he said, “For the past three-four months, the discussion has been centered around ‘370 seats’ and ‘400 pals’.” This could be considered as a strategy of the Bharatiya Janata Party or a weakness of the Opposition, but the Bharatiya Janata Party has completely changed the goalpost from 272 to 370. This benefited the Bharatiya Janata Party. Now no one is saying that Modiji will lose, they are saying that he may not win 370 seats. ”
He also claimed that if the BJP loses less than the expected 370 seats, Prime Minister Modi’s party will form the government.
