For over 20 years, the competition has enabled young businesspeople and creative minds to pursue their dreams and compete while strengthening their businesses.
In 2024, the following six teams will compete for the top spot. Teams were selected from 31 first-round pitches and 12 semi-finalists.





- Empasta makes plant-based cheese-like sauces and uses whole food ingredients to deliver delicious products that can be included in most meals.
- J+J is a weighted magnetic band that helps stabilize the hands of patients with neurodegenerative diseases who suffer from hand tremors.
- DUCCS is a biochar wattle, a new technology in the composting industry that reduces greenhouse gas emissions through natural adsorption and improves the carbon impact of current aerated composting processes.
- Hive is an edtech platform designed to improve campus life by seamlessly connecting students, clubs, and universities.
- Exergi develops and deploys solar energy generators for residential and small commercial buildings.
- Connext is a pioneering solution that leverages technology and personalized mentoring to address challenges in high school students’ career exploration journeys.
*The team with the best plan to launch a viable new business in Western New York will win $25,000 in seed money and more than $40,000 worth of in-kind prizes. The second place team will collect $10,000 as start-up capital. – U.B.
- Each final team will present a two-minute pitch, 43North style, to the judges and other viewers, demonstrating how well they demonstrate the feasibility and marketability of their venture, prove the need for their product or service, and Present potential sources of capital.
