In its continued efforts to promote women’s economic participation, the Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy has announced over 800 investments related to the development of women’s entrepreneurship projects in the first quarter of 2020-2024. Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov, in his speech at “Azerbaijan’s 4th Autonomous State Report, Expansion of Women’s Economic Rights and Opportunities, Consultations with Stakeholders on the Progress of the 5th SDG” These important advances were highlighted.
Dedicated to increasing women’s participation in small and medium-sized enterprises, Mr. Mammadov emphasized the vital role played by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMBDA) in fostering women’s entrepreneurship.
“Roundtables are held regularly to inform women about entrepreneurship, innovation in this field, support mechanisms, educational events, trainings, seminars, roundtables, etc. and to consider ideas and suggestions. In addition to KOBIA, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Development Association is also represented on the Public Council.”
She noted that the 4th SDG Dialogue was an opportunity to share insights and recommendations to accelerate progress towards achieving the 5th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), particularly in strengthening women’s economic empowerment. He emphasized that it will serve as an important platform.
“In this regard, the 4th SDG Dialogue is an effective way to discuss and share knowledge on global and Azerbaijan-specific issues, especially from the perspective of increasing women’s economic empowerment, towards the achievement of the 5th SDG.” It aims to propose innovative solutions and policy recommendations to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Azerbaijan.
