Did you know that the Wyoming Legislature overwhelmingly passed a two-year, 25% property tax cut for all residents? Wyoming homeowner?
Congress also passed a bill to eliminate dangerous gun-free zones.
The group also introduced legislation to regulate abortion mills in Wyoming, which currently operate with impunity.
Lawmakers also approved a bill to oppose the Biden administration’s 30×30 plan and a bill that would allow Wyoming beef producers to sell directly to Wyoming consumers without interference or interference from major powers. .
Each of these measures was approved by the Wyoming Legislature by a solid majority with no veto power.
Governor Mark Gordon, a self-described “Republican,” vetoed all of these.
The Wyoming Legislature has the constitutional power to override the veto, so why didn’t they do that?
Legislative leaders adjourned early with three days remaining, allowing the governor to veto the bill without giving the Legislature a chance to check and balance the governor’s flagrant rhetoric. .
The Wyoming Legislature also has the constitutional power to call targeted special sessions, so why didn’t they do so?
Thirty-five members of the Wyoming House of Representatives have decided that it is not worth reconvening, even virtually for just four days, to get the people’s business done.
These 35 representatives stood in the way of property tax relief, even though they supported it just one month ago.
They blocked Second Amendment rights, even though the full House voted “yes” to protect those rights.
They gave the thumbs up to the murder of innocent newborn children even though they declared they were running for life in Cheyenne last month.
They voted against calling a strategic, short-term, focused special meeting because they argued it was not urgent enough to accomplish what they thought was worthwhile. When the governor’s veto pen waited on the other side of their feigned support.
I urge the people of Wyoming to be discerning as election season begins. When your Congressman knocks on your door and brags about voting to defend the Second Amendment, ask him how he voted in the special session.
When a clever flyer touting your rep’s pro-life bona fides arrives in your mailbox, see what she did when handed the real flyer. An opportunity to stand strong for your new baby.
A vote against the special session is against property tax relief, the Second Amendment, newborn protections, Biden’s 30×30 land grab, and an all-powerful governor operating without checks and balances. It’s a vote.
The published special session vote tally can be viewed below.
