A key source of funding for Trump’s legal costs is drying up
President Trump has shouldered tens of millions of dollars in legal costs from his leadership PAC, Save America. But a new funding report filed over the weekend suggests that revenue stream may be drying up.
Save America has paid out about $60 million in legal fees since early last year (mostly to companies connected to his various cases), leaving it in April with just $4.1 million in the bank. We have started our activities. But there are even bigger warning signs in the Trump filing.
Shortly before he announced his 2022 presidential bid, Save America sent $60 million to MAGA, Inc., a top pro-Trump super PAC, to boost his outside candidacy. But amid the former president’s legal crisis, MAGA Inc. has gradually returned its donations, providing a critical injection of funds to Save America to pay for Trump’s legal costs. (Note: Almost all of the money Save America raised last month came from refunds.)
MAGA Inc. has refunded all but $2.8 million of its $60 million donation, according to new filings. Trump will therefore need to find new ways to fund his defense efforts, as there are no signs that these costs will go away anytime soon.

Everyone involved in Trump’s hush money trial
The charges against Trump stem from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s alleged “catch-and-kill” scheme to suppress negative stories about Trump in an effort to influence election results before the 2016 presidential election. It stems from an investigation.
Prosecutors say several people participated in the scheme, which involved paying people to buy their silence and hiding the payments in Trump’s business records.
The following are key individuals in the case who may appear during the trial as witnesses.
