When I was younger, I enjoyed reading the exploits of Dick Tracy in the newspaper comic strips. I loved that the story would last for several weeks and Dick Tracy and his friends would eventually solve the case and bring the bad guys to justice. My dad and I would read each episode and we would often discuss what was happening and try to guess what would happen next. One thing I always thought was cool was the “two-way” watches that Dick Tracy and his friends had. Of course, back then this was pretty much science fiction.
Last weekend, I visited my sister and mentioned that I needed a watch. She has a “smart watch” that will tell you how far you’ve walked, your blood pressure, your blood sugar, your temperature, and maybe even your horoscope or lucky numbers. Luckily, she had bought an extra one. She said, “Do you want one?” Of course, I took her generous offer. She found the watch and wished me an “early birthday.”
I’ve been enjoying this watch for the past few days. My blood pressure is a little high, but my blood sugar is pretty good, though I’d like to get it a little lower. I should be able to make phone calls with the watch, Dick Tracy style (though it would be a video call, which I don’t want to do anyway, since I normally don’t want someone to see me when I’m on a call). The watch also has one unusual feature that actually tells the time.
Regardless of the time of day, we hope you have a great time here on this sunny day.
