According to quarterly data from the Central Registration Authority (MKK), the number of investors in Turkiye’s stock market reached 8.23 million at the end of March, up from 4.35 million a year ago.
Eight companies went public in the first quarter of this year, with the initial public offering amounting to 14.7 billion Turkish liras.
There are a total of 11.35 million investors in the capital market, and the size of securities increased from 13.98 trillion lire at the end of 2023 to 15.85 trillion lire at the end of March.
This rose from 7.2 million investors a year ago to more than 10 million in September 2023.
Most capital market investors were men between the ages of 21 and 40, while the number of women investors in the same age group was 165,000.
The number of mutual fund investors was 4.71 million, up from 3.73 million in the same period last year, and the market value of mutual funds increased from 936 billion liras to 2.53 billion liras.
The number of government bond investors fell to 16,839 from 17,000 at the end of March last year, and their holdings increased from 271 billion liras to 430 billion liras.
Approximately 49,000 investors invested in corporate bonds in the first quarter, bringing the market value of corporate bonds to 328 billion liras.
The number of investors in structured products was more than 23,000, and the product value reached 271 billion liras.
According to MKK, about 122 companies raised money through crowdfunding and about 38,000 investors participated in crowdfunding transactions.
