NEW YORK, June 06, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mark L. Madrid will join NMSDC as its next Entrepreneur-in-Residence. Mr. Madrid previously served as Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Entrepreneurial Development.
In this position, Madrid will focus on expanding access to capital for minority-owned enterprises (MBEs), building on the strong foundation established by outgoing first Entrepreneur in Residence, Curtis Trevan. Curtis helped drive change and progress toward NMSDC’s ambitious $1 trillion goal through the implementation of several innovative initiatives, including the Capital Managers Program, the most comprehensive database of capital firms with minority founders and focused on the minority business ecosystem. Additionally, Madrid will lead efforts to advance the goals of NMSDC’s newly established MBE Center for Accelerated Growth, Innovation, and Resiliency. She will also support the organization’s federal advocacy for public policies that advance economic equality and expand outreach to Hispanic-owned businesses.
Prior to his time at the SBA, Mark Madrid emerged as a leader committed to economic equality. He served as CEO of the Latino Business Action Network and worked with Stanford University on the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, a program that strengthens the U.S. economic power through the study and expansion of U.S. Latino and Latino businesses. Additionally, he served as CEO of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) from 2014 to 2017, during which time GAHCC was named U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Year in 2015. Madrid began his career on Wall Street in 1995 at JP Morgan, where he held senior positions in corporate banking before working influential roles in national nonprofit and federal government sectors.
“Mark Madrid’s appointment as NMSDC’s Entrepreneur in Residence underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth. His extensive background in both the public and private sectors will be crucial as we move toward our ambitious goal of $1 trillion in annual revenue for NMSDC-certified MBEs by 2030,” said Inge McGuire, CEO and president of NMSDC. “Mark’s joining the company marks an important step in our mission to accelerate the growth of MBEs and help advance economic equality for our corporate members.”
