Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship will add to its educational portfolio by presenting Jerry Taylor and Nancy Bryant’s Trading Floor to the public on Friday, May 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. To do.
The trading floor, located on the second floor of the Carl DeSantis Building at 3050 Ray Ferrero Jr. Boulevard in Davie, Florida, will support the university’s Student Managed Investment Fund. This was made possible through a gift from Jerry Taylor and Nancy Bryant, a philanthropist couple who immigrated to Florida from the Washington, D.C., area in 1998 and are supporters of the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.
“A big benefit of the trading floor is that it supports student-managed investment funds,” says Antonio Figueiredo, associate professor of finance in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. “By participating in this fund, students will have the opportunity to put into practice the theory they learn in the classroom and, more importantly, develop their critical thinking skills.”
Features of the new trading floor include:
- A conference room used weekly by the Student Managed Investment Fund for discussion of current market conditions, portfolio positions, and potential new portfolio investments.
- Adjacent classrooms/laboratories contain 30 student stations, each with individual computers and two monitors, where students can work on course assignments, take lectures, work on presentations, and access various websites and Makes it easier to interrogate material with other data sources.
- Stream real-time LED stock tickers to help students stay on top of ever-changing financial markets
