A new program is set up to give more families in Louisiana more access to affordable, fresh food. Greaux the Good, operated by Market Umbrella, is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization based in New Orleans. Greaux the Good provides direct-to-consumer food businesses in Louisiana, including farmers markets, farm stands, and produce stands, the opportunity to create or expand a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Farmers Market Nutrition Program. In some cases, families are provided with a nutritional supplement program that is twice as large as hers. There are several farmers markets in Louisiana that participate through Grow the Good Louisiana, including Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and St. Charles Parishes.
