It also authorizes $9 million in funding for planning and design of the Wright-Patt Advanced Research Laboratory.

The bill would also increase the base pay of junior soldiers by 15%, according to Turner’s office.

The bill, which would have to go through what would normally be a lengthy process to pass the House and Senate and be signed into law by President Biden, would require military basic housing benefits to be It guarantees that 100% of the calculated fees for military housing in the area will be covered.

The bill also expands eligibility for Department of Defense child development programs (both on and off military installations) to unemployed military spouses who are actively searching for work.

Additionally, the act directs the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel Readiness to submit a report to the military commissions regarding the administrative discharge process for service members accused of sexual assault or sexual misconduct.

“Expanding facilities and capabilities at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has been central to my work on the Armed Services Committee, and this year’s NDAA includes several initiatives that I have championed, including several in the Miami Valley. It will enhance the important national security work that is being done,” Turner said in a statement.

“Wright-Patterson Air Force Base recently unveiled the National Aerospace Intelligence Center’s new Information Production Complex III, highlighting the base’s critical role in supporting the Department of Defense’s surveillance and reconnaissance mission,” Turner added. Ta. “The House Armed Services Committee’s passage of the FY25 NDAA is an important step toward developing Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, supporting military personnel, and strengthening Ohio’s defense industrial base.”

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, issued a statement Wednesday night saying, “The most important investment we can make is in the foundation of our military: our people.” said.

“Military members don’t have to worry about making ends meet, putting food on the table, or having safe housing,” Rogers said. “The FY25 NDAA increases compensation, improves housing, expands access to health care, increases access to child care, and provides support for military spouses.”

Rogers also praised Turner, saying in a statement that he “will continue to be a strong advocate for the brave men and women who serve at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.”

Turner’s spokesperson said the proposal to incorporate parts of Air National Guard units from several states into the U.S. Space Force was a challenge to U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, who said such a transition would require approval from the state’s governors. Like the amendment, it passed by voice vote.

An Ohio National Guard spokesman told The Post this week that the Springfield unit could be involved in the plan.

In the end, the committee approved the $883.7 billion draft bill by a vote of 57-1.
