NBA launches accelerator focused on early-stage startups in Africa

In support of President Biden’s Africa Digital Transformation Initiative and building on the U.S. Department of Commerce’s overall Africa strategy, NBA Africa today announced the launch of Triple Double: NBA Africa, a continent-based startup accelerator.・Announced the launch of a startup accelerator. Triple Double: NBA Africa Startup Accelerator supports Africa’s technology ecosystem and Africa’s next generation of technology entrepreneurs by providing mentorship and access to capital to help accelerate growth in the sports and creative industries.

The Triple-Double: NBA Africa Startup Accelerator, run by ALX Ventures, targets early-stage startups in Africa developing solutions for event management and ticketing, youth development, AI, and digital marketing in the sports and creative industries. Startups can apply to join TripleDoubleAccelerator.NBA.com until Friday, May 31st. Posts are then narrowed down to the top 10 posts.

The 10 selected startups will be paired with mentors comprised of NBA Africa and ALX leadership and other company stakeholders to guide the companies with a focus on product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategies. Offers. NBA Africa will hold a Demo Day in New York City in September to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Participating companies will pitch their products to a panel of top industry leaders from the U.S., Africa, and around the world. The committee will then identify four winning companies, who will receive financial support, mentorship and the opportunity to collaborate with NBA Africa and the Basketball Africa League (BAL) on current and future initiatives on the African continent. .
