My main goal in writing From Zero to Entrepreneur is to enlighten and inspire young entrepreneurs. This book will help them navigate the rough waters of business and give them the courage to persevere despite the difficulties. Many people hesitate to start a business due to fear or unexpected circumstances. Others want to try but struggle to continue due to lack of results. This book aims to address these concerns and provide practical advice and support to those determined to succeed.

Entrepreneurship is like a lighthouse that lights the way to economic prosperity in any country. It is not just about starting a business; it is a mindset and a lifestyle. Entrepreneurship is about creating value, making a difference and making a lasting impact. With a fast-growing entertainment industry estimated at $1.4 billion, Nigeria is fertile ground for aspiring entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into reality. As someone who has walked this path, I share my journey and insights to inspire both young and experienced entrepreneurs.

My entrepreneurial journey began even before I enrolled at Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State. However, it was during my undergraduate years that my entrepreneurial interests became clear. Upon graduating in 2015, I immediately moved on to the next stage of my life in Abuja, where my career trajectory became clear. Unlike many of my classmates who were still figuring out their next steps after graduation, I had already started earning a decent income within a month of leaving school. This head start was no coincidence, but the result of years of self-development and entrepreneurial experimentation.

Before I entered university, my entrepreneurship was just a hobby. However, the need for financial independence during my student days made me take business more seriously. What started as a “fun project” quickly became a significant source of income, allowing me to support myself without constantly relying on my parents for financial support. This change in mindset was crucial in preparing me for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Nigeria, and Africa, is filled with untapped business opportunities. The essence of entrepreneurship lies in identifying a problem or a need and devising a solution. During my time in Abuja, I noticed a gap in the market for luxury rooftop parties, a new experience for many. By organizing these events and securing sponsorship from Cîroc Vodka, I not only filled this gap, but also created my own brand. My “have fun while you make a profit” business from my undergraduate days had unknowingly prepared me for this entrepreneurial leap.

…Entrepreneurship is an essential force for economic growth and innovation. By sharing my experience, I hope to shed light on the potential within and beyond the Nigerian entertainment industry. For aspiring artists, investors and media professionals, entrepreneurship helps create value, solve problems and make a lasting impact.

Starting a business is akin to solving a complex puzzle where you will encounter financial hurdles and other obstacles along the way. My path has never been smooth, but persistence, determination and focus have seen me through. The success I enjoy today is a testament to the fact that these qualities can help any entrepreneur overcome difficulties and achieve their goals.

In an economy where employment opportunities are scarce, entrepreneurship is not just an option, it is a necessity. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers and their role is essential in a society that demands continuous improvement. By identifying challenges and coming up with innovative solutions, entrepreneurs like me contribute significantly to the economic development of our country. For example, the luxury rooftop parties I started in Abuja filled a niche and provided an experience that was previously unavailable.
