Ambassador Robert Brevel

Redwood Media has appointed Robert Brevel, a member of the Adai Kado Indian Nation of Louisiana, as a Global Entrepreneurship Ambassador. Robert has over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience and was named to the Top 100 Innovators and Entrepreneurs Magazine in 2023. A veteran of several notable exits, he has been named among the best innovators and engineers from NASA and Fortune 500 companies, a Top 10 Angel Investor in Silicon Valley, a Top 10 Angel Investor in Dallas, a Top 101 Best Angels in London, and a Top 100 Angel Investor supporting veterans.

Robert is an early stage investor and executive in a wide range of companies from fashion to semiconductors. Yunex, Marshall, Ewellix, Trinity, e2v and OneWeb are some of the companies he has invested in that have created thousands of jobs and generated a staggering $2 billion in returns for investors over the past decade.

“By all accounts, he has been hugely successful at every imaginable level, with startups and Fortune 500 companies, but Robert’s passion and impressive skills in mentoring and coaching entrepreneurs made him the obvious choice to be our ambassador,” said Tom Henderson, chairman of RM’s advisory board. “He’s a recognized expert in multiple technologies and markets and is perhaps the best-known Native American entrepreneur. His academic credentials are impeccable. And he has global appeal; he’s lived and run companies in Europe, Asia and the US. His hard-earned experience and willingness to share it is 24-karat startup gold.”

Robert is known not only for his shrewd and profitable business deals, but also as one of the most sought-after mentors. This comes as founders have publicly shared their experiences working with Robert in news articles and podcasts. They credit Robert with helping them refine their business plans, strategies, and investor structure to help soar their startups. As a mentor, he has helped them develop their capabilities as business leaders while emphasizing innovation and ethics. Many of these founders met Robert while participating in programs with Tech Wildcatters, the Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Innovative Technology, and Intellectual Ventures.

“Robert was key in helping us raise our seed and A rounds,” said Kyle Torres, founder of Intellectual Ventures. “Having worked at every level of the startup lifecycle, he has a breadth of experience and depth of knowledge that is rarely found. Having been everything from software developer to startup chairman, he understands the challenges entrepreneurs face. As an investor, he has invested in startups from idea to exit phase, which resonates with investors. He knows how to identify the right investors and investments at each stage of a startup’s trajectory while managing dilution, debt, and growth.”

Robert invested in the struggling Tech Wildcatters Accelerator (the oldest accelerator in Texas) and eventually became Managing Partner. He personally taught classes and mentored dozens of founders. During his tenure, the accelerator quadrupled the number of startups in its program, tripled investment funding, doubled its internship program, and hosted not one but two of the largest pitch days in the country. The results were clear: Tech Wildcatters was ranked among Forbes’ top 10 accelerators in the U.S. and ranked #1 as the best B2B accelerator in the world. Robert was on the cover of the Dallas Business Journal and a regular in Yahoo Finance and Nasdaq News. He was then named Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Intellectual Ventures with over 75,000 patents and $6 billion in investments. Founders and startups from around the world flocked to Texas hoping to secure him as a mentor, investor or board member.

“The startup community is fortunate to have a talented individual like Robert volunteering to help support the next generation of innovators, disruptors, and pioneers,” said angel investor James Lee. “He’s run his own startups and worked with leading VCs such as Austin Ventures, Intellectual Ventures, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He’s a technologist, a financial whiz, and a proven business leader with experience in aerospace, defense, cyber, telecommunications, SaaS, and more. Like many other entrepreneurs, he’s sacrificed his career, time, and money. Who better to be their ambassador?”

As an Ambassador, Robert will represent RM at conferences, seminars and panel discussions. He will work closely with promising entrepreneurs and angel networks in strategic markets such as Chicago and Silicon Valley.
