Mr. Robson, head of underwriting at AXIS Global Markets, steps down and is succeeded by Mr. McGregor
Axis Capital Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that alistair robsonHead of Underwriting Operations AXIS Global Market, Chief Underwriting Officer of AXIS Managing Agency, has decided to retire. He plans to retire from AXIS at the end of June 2024 after 13 years of service and 39 years in the insurance industry.
Mr. Robson joined AXIS in 2011 as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Properties and was also the first active underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1686. He was then promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer for the International Division and AXIS Management Agency before assuming his current position. He founded Global Markets in 2023.
“Alistair has been a driving force in establishing Global Markets as a strong revenue source for AXIS,” commented. mark gregory, Head of AXIS Global Markets. “Among Mr Alistair’s significant contributions to AXIS are the establishment of Syndicate 1686 in 2014, the merger of AXIS and Novae underwriting from 2017, the introduction of a rigorous performance management regime, and the establishment of the AXIS Management Agency Regulator. approval, and most recently the launch of AXIS Energy Transition Syndicate 2050.”
Robson’s decision to retire has been followed by a series of promotions within Global Markets, effective July 1.
- Rory McGregorHead of Non-Maritime is promoted to Head of Global Markets Underwriting, reporting directly to Gregory.
- steve crossHead of Construction has been promoted to Head of Non-Maritime and Global Markets and will continue to report to Mr MacGregor.
- anna woolleyA senior construction underwriter, he has been promoted to Head of Construction in the Global Markets Division and will continue to report to Cross.
Mr. Robson will work with Global Markets leadership to ensure a smooth transition to his role.

Newline Europe appoints Beckers as head of cyber responsibility
Newline Europe Versicherung AG announced the appointment of Johannes Beckers He has been appointed as the new head of Cyber Responsibility. In this role, Mr. Beckers will oversee and lead the development of his Newline Europe cyber portfolio across the European Economic Area (EEA).
Mr. Beckers most recently served as a senior underwriter at Zurich Group Deutschland. He brings over 10 years of underwriting experience to his Newline and is also an accomplished speaker and author of numerous cyber risk articles.

Mr. Beckers is based in Cologne and reports to Mr. Wirtz.
