Michigan State football fans have to be impressed with the job Jonathan Smith has done in a short time: He took over as head coach last November and quickly took the 2024 freshman class from 90th nationally to a top-35 ranking.
Not only that, but he’s landed dozens of transfers via the portal, many of whom will make an immediate impact in 2024. He’s landed a ton of projected starters.
And he’s already committed players like Leo Hannan, Braylon Collier, Jace Clarizio, Emmett Bock, Charles White and Dimari Malone to develop the class of 2025. This class isn’t all stars right now, but there’s still time to improve and I think it will come soon, especially if On3’s recent projections come true.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) projected the Spartans to land three-star tight end Jayden Savory and three-star interior offensive lineman Drew Nichols.
Savory is one of the Spartans’ top remaining targets, with the tight end out of Michigan ranked 850th nationally and 50th at his position by On3. He’d be a great No. 2 tight end in this class alongside Bock, and both would benefit from Brian Wozniak’s elite coaching.
Nichols is a three-star recruit and is ranked the No. 94 interior offensive lineman in the country. He will be the Spartans’ first offensive line commit in 2025.
Michigan State’s 2025 recruiting class could grow to seven or eight prospects in the near future following another productive official visit weekend by Smith and company.
