Michigan football team hopes to acquire explosive wide receiver in 2025

University of Michigan football wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has been focusing on recruiting, and it’s starting to pay off.

On Thursday night, it was reported that the Wolverines would cancel their trip to Oklahoma after hosting four-star wide receiver Andrew Marsh, who is ranked in the top 50 overall for the 2025 class by the 247Sports composite rankings, for an official visit.

This is the second visit in as many weeks, but it’s not the only positive development involving Bellamy and the University of Michigan football team’s wide receiver acquisition.

Phillip Wright is a three-star wide receiver from Louisiana who just visited this past weekend. He is 5’11, weighs 160 pounds, and is a fast runner. As a sophomore, he ran the 100 meters in 10.62 seconds. He also ran the 200 meters in 21.61 seconds.

That’s true speed, and as we all know, speed can’t be coached. Wright’s recruitment is intriguing. Georgia and Georgia Tech are the other players besides Michigan. Wright’s 247Sports profile says he’s scheduled to take an official visit to Georgia this weekend.

If he continues on that visit, Georgia could be a real threat to land his commitment. But if he declines the visit, all signs point to a commitment to Michigan football. Earlier this week, The Wolverine’s EJ Holland predicted Wright would join the Wolverines.

Now, Josh Henschke of The Maize and Blue Review (Rivals) also projects Wright to attend Michigan, and with Steve Lorentz also taking his crystal ball reading on Thursday, the Michigan football world is keeping a close eye on Wright, who is ranked 526th in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

According to the On3 prediction machine, Michigan has an 86.5 percent chance of accepting Wright.
