MFTC Announces Two Webinars for Hawaii Food Entrepreneurs in May: Maui Now

Small food entrepreneurs looking to enhance the growth of their business will gain valuable insights from two informational webinars in August focused on food safety and labeling. These webinars are presented by the Maui Food Technology Center (MFTC).

A “Food Labeling Workshop” will be held on May 14th (Tuesday) from 10am to 11am. Presented by Nina Ann Tanabe, MS, CFS. President of Pacific Food Technology. In this webinar, learn the latest information on food labeling, regulatory requirements, and how your efforts can make a difference. Topics include:

  • Who needs food labels?
  • What products do these federal agencies (USDA, FDA, TTB) cover?
  • What are the FDA’s mandatory requirements for food labeling?
  • When are USDA and FDA labeling deadlines?

A “Food Safety Planning Training Session” will be held on May 15th (Wednesday) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Presented by John Nakashima, RS, PCQI; Owner of Food Safety Services Hawai’i, LLC In this webinar, you will learn what it takes to create a sound food safety plan and how it protects not only your company but your customers. Learn about. Topics include:

  • What type of food safety plan does your business need?
  • What are HACCP and FSMA and how do these programs impact you?
  • What information is required for a food safety plan?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of DIY and outsourcing?
