Meet the newest Digital Sandbox KC startups (and see what they’re building now)

isDigital Sandbox KC announced this week that five new startups will join the program, receiving critical support, mentorship and up to $20,000 in project funding to accelerate their innovative projects.

“We’re excited to welcome these cutting-edge startups to the sandbox and provide them with the support and resources they need to move their innovative projects forward,” said Jill Meyer, senior director of the Technology Venture Studio that houses Digital Sandbox KC. “Digital Sandbox KC is committed to supporting founders and scalable technologies that challenge the status quo, and we’re excited to watch these startups grow.”

Startups participating in the program will receive up to $20,000 in early-stage project funding as well as access to the Technology Venture Studio community and technical project support.

“Digital Sandbox KC is helping us secure the critical funding we need to get our MVP off the ground and launch it to the public,” said Danny Moran, co-founder and CEO of Advotech with Bryce Wolf.

Advotech The company, which won top honors at the Regnier Midwest Social Entrepreneurship Awards at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Regnier Venture Creation Challenge this spring, is building technology to protect vulnerable individuals from financial cybercrime.

The company’s first product is a mobile keyboard that notifies caregivers if they share sensitive information online.

In addition to Advoteck, new startups joining Digital Sandbox KC’s network of funded companies include:

  • conduit (Jordan Mulyan) OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Conduit is developing APIs that transcribe social media videos in real time and extract audio transcripts and image data for ready use in developer applications.
  • LAN Party Technology (Ryan Hesse) PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kansas — LAN Party Technologies is developing a communication app for gamers that allows groups of friends to experience the excitement and camaraderie of in-person gaming in a customizable virtual game room. The application allows users to game and socialize with friends in virtual rooms that can be customized to fit the needs and style of their unique gaming group.
  • Parsed (Anthony Loya), Kansas City, Missouri — Parsed is an analytics platform that leverages advanced analytics and AI to deliver actionable capabilities and insights. The startup empowers banks, fintechs, and cryptocurrency companies to develop personalized data products and helps craft data stories.
  • Urom App (Zik Nwanganga) KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Ulom app helps refugees, international students and new immigrants adjust faster to their new homes by connecting them to the right resources and communities.

“The Digital Sandbox KC grant will help us develop our app,” explains Nwanganga, CEO and co-founder of Ulom App and FiredUp Studios. “By releasing our app, we will be able to gain users and test whether there is a need for our solution in the market.”
