startup founder bill smith A 10-year-old child’s idea was detailed in a post that drew reactions from Cubans.
In the post, he shared a personal anecdote that inspired his son into sales. Smith’s son was initially disappointed as he was the only one who was able to get a customer after knocking on 40 doors, falling short of his goal of three customers.
But Smith encouraged her son not to give up and asked when he planned to follow up. Despite being confused about the concept, he enthusiastically follows up with everyone, even those who initially expressed misgivings.
His persistence paid off and he acquired five more customers, bringing his total to 13. A lot of that is through referrals.
Smith says, “Most people only ask once. They give up too soon. Remember how powerful it is just to follow up.”
