Directorate General of M&M and Training (DGT) will operate his two pilots for successful deployment of drone Didi Yojana. Pilots are training women from self-help groups to fly drones for agricultural applications at National Skills Training Institute (NSTI) in Hyderabad and Noida.

New Delhi, May 2024: Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading agricultural machinery company and the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, has hired two pilots under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Drone Didi Yojna. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed for implementation. The scheme, launched earlier this year, aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for agricultural purposes such as fertilizer sowing, crop monitoring and seed sowing, thereby creating new technological fields. Create new livelihood opportunities for women by imparting skills.

Under this partnership, Mahindra and MSDE will conduct two pilot trials at the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI) in Hyderabad and Noida to skill 500 women in exclusive batches of only 20 women. Let them learn. His 15-day curriculum, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, is delivered through his RPTO (Remote Pilot Training Organization) instructors in these centers.

Building on previous successful collaborations with leading technology industry partners, this initiative represents the beginning of many joint projects with Mahindra through rigorous training methodologies and hands-on learning experiences. We equip our students with the practical skills and competencies they need to excel in their chosen fields and make a meaningful contribution to the country’s socio-economic growth.”

Within this partnership, NSTI will provide the infrastructure to run the training program, accommodation for participants, and leverage local women’s self-help groups and NGOs to encourage participation. Mahindra Group will provide initial set-up support through a simulation machine/drone, simulator controller, simulator software, desktop computer with i5 processor and trainer, and cover operating costs during the pilot project including instructor fees for DGCA license holders. The learnings and outcomes from the pilot project will help MSDE scale up the Drone Didi Yojana in selected NSTIs/ITIs across the country. Further supporting the intentions of the Drone Didi Yojana, Mahindra will soon roll out Drone She training for women at its Skill She Centers in Zaheerabad, Telangana and Nagpur, Maharashtra.
