Wickman and Dube are of the view that even in a rush-rush world, you can still be chased. and Have inner peace. “Being pushed is both a blessing and a curse,” Wickman says. “Some things are good and some things are bad. The important thing is to accept it, embrace it, understand it, and most importantly, manage it. Driven are the creators of most things in this world. A curse, he says, is one whose strength causes great damage to themselves and those around them.

“People who are pushed are always 10 steps ahead, which can seem crazy to many people,” Wickman says. “They wonder why people can’t keep up with them, why others get irritated with them. Motivated people see what others don’t see. When ambitious people properly manage their impulsive nature, they have more energy, more influence, and peace. Attract better employees and retain your best employees They develop more trust and understanding of each other, and begin to attract better customers and better vendors, all of which lead to greater workplace and work life satisfaction and happier people.”

The authors talk about the role of love and fear in human decision-making.

Mr. Dubé says that when he raises issues of love and fear in the workplace, he shakes his head. “This immediately resonates with aspiring entrepreneurs,” he says. “The reality is that they are making decisions out of love or fear. Love is a heart-based decision and fear is an ego-based decision. Ego creates fear and people , it’s important to understand that we get attached to our emotional attachments to life outcomes and create structures that lead us to make decisions that are not in our best interest.”

Fear-based decision-making “stems from internal blocks that need to be removed,” he says. When blocks are removed and a person lets go, their energy soars and they become more of their true selves. So by being aware of the types of decisions we are making, we can remove blocks, remove layers, and make more decisions based on love, from the inside out. You can be free. Even if he made even 10% more decisions based on love, it would have a huge impact. ”

Dubé says most decisions are made out of fear. An example of fear-based decision making is an entrepreneur who learns of a competitor who has introduced a new product line. “Entrepreneurs jump on the bandwagon without thinking twice and decide to start offering the same product line to keep up,” he says. “The decision to introduce a new product line wreaks havoc on teams. They have to pivot from their previous focus, change systems, train salespeople, etc. not.”

He says it’s the same decision made out of love when the person slows down, revisits the company’s 10-year vision and market conditions, and collaborates with team members and customers. “Additionally, rather than being overly analytical, she becomes quiet and allows her answers to come to her,” he says. “In this case, the decision is to continue to focus on the current product and dominate the market.”

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Dube says, part of making decisions based on love is a feeling of, “This is who we are as a company and what do we want out of life?” .

Wickman and Dubé quote the following maxim: overestimate What they can accomplish in one year underestimate What can we do in 10 years? ” If that’s true, I asked, why? And how can entrepreneurs benefit from a “10-year mindset” mindset?

“Aspiring entrepreneurs focus on the short term,” Dube says. “They want everything now. They have a sense of urgency, which causes great anxiety. When he changes his mindset from thinking short-term to thinking in a 10-year time frame, time slows down as he realizes he has more time to get where he wants to go. When time slows down, clarity arises. Clarity leads to better decisions (based on love). Making better decisions will ultimately get you there faster and give you deeper peace of mind.

For many people, work shapes their identity. So what advice do they have for how hard-working people can “take a vacation” and learn how to truly let go of their work?

“People who are pushed into a corner are intense,” Wickman says. “They get excited by the dopamine effects of business. It’s like a drug. But our minds and bodies need to slow down, completely switch off, and recharge.”

“For many people, taking time off is not an issue,” Wickman says. “For aspiring entrepreneurs, sitting by the pool at a resort with a laptop while answering emails or reading the latest business book can be a form of respite. do not have I’m taking a day off. Going on vacation means completely stopping all business. It takes effort and preparation, but it is possible. Spending time completely apart calms your mind and body. Motivated entrepreneurs come back from vacation (even for a weekend) feeling rejuvenated, clearer, and more at peace. When this happens, it becomes clearer. It creates space for new ideas and attracts new opportunities. ”

Other than profiling tools like the Enneagram, what is a better process for people to define and be true to their true selves?

“All personality profiling tools are a great start because they give us different insights into who we are,” Dube says. “Another thing we suggest is to ask the five closest people in your life to make a list of their strengths and weaknesses.”

He says quiet reflection, prayer, and meditation can also help. “Instead of being 100% yourself in every situation, I recommend focusing on areas of your life where you can be a chameleon and just blend in with your surroundings. Make a list at the end of each day for two weeks. , take a moment to reflect on why you sometimes become a chameleon and what it would be like to be your true self in those situations.”

Wickman and Dube also recommend writing what they call a “Who I Am Statement.”

““The ‘Who Am I? Statement’ provides a complete picture of who you are, what’s important to you, and what you stand for,” says Dubé. “When we are not clear about who we are, we become exhausted and it depletes our vibrational energy. People notice this. Everything will be easier because you will no longer be bound by the armor you wore. Once you take off the armor and define who you are, you will be free. Wear the armor, pants and a T-shirt. It’s like running a race.”

Dubé says journaling can help people “decompress” from everyday pressures.

““Keeping a diary is a great way to get all the noise in your head out on paper,” he says. “You can write fast or slow, reread or not, and even draw (some people are better at expressing their emotions this way). You are free to let it out. Yes, and when you do it, you gain more clarity, see patterns and themes in your life, are given perspective, and gain greater self-awareness. What do you think is the key to removing excess baggage and focusing your attention on the most important activities that have the greatest impact?

“Aspiring entrepreneurs believe they can do it all, but they’re neither good nor good at most of it,” Wickman says. “They must eliminate anything that doesn’t fit into their unique abilities or sweet spot. Focus on activities in the sweet spot and set clear boundaries to protect time and energy.” The more we commit to this, the more impact we can make.”

And, of course, there’s the issue of FOMO, the fear of missing out. What role does it play in why people are hesitant to say “no” to requests for their time, attention, and other resources? What are better “rules” for saying no? ?

“When a motivated person becomes successful in business, opportunities begin to appear regularly,” Dube says. He makes 10 times more decisions than most people every day. For example, decisions about who to hire, which markets to enter, should I do a podcast, should I join that board of directors, should I partner with that person? It has taken years of hard work to get to this point, but when the opportunity comes, I can’t say no. ”

According to him, aspiring entrepreneurs say yes to eight out of every 10 opportunities. “This spreads them too thin, has a domino effect on their mental and physical energy, and confuses the team. Every 10th chance we have, we have to slow down and make decisions based on love. Choose 2 out of 10 instead of 8 out of 10. We will be able to take advantage of the opportunity.”
