Vice President Kamala Harris was interrupted by protesters on Saturday while speaking at a campaign event in Philadelphia aimed at engaging Asian American and Pacific Islander voters.
As she was discussing former President Donald Trump’s comments, protesters opposed to the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s war in Gaza began shouting from the audience.
Reporters at the venue said protesters disrupted the proceedings, including at least one small group holding signs, one of whom shouted: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
As she attempted to continue, protesters began chanting “Liberate Palestine, liberate Palestine” again, while supporters again chanted “Four more years”, drowning out the protests.
“We’re fighting for democracy and democratic values, which includes the right for everyone to have a voice,” Harris said, before repeating, “We have four more years left in this term.”
Gaza TodayThe Health Ministry said at least 90 Palestinians were killed in an airstrike that Israel said hit a Hamas military leader.
The Israeli attack took place in Al Mawashi, a town Israel has designated as a safe haven for Palestinians fleeing the fighting, and at least one round of US-made munitions was used in the attack, according to a CNN analysis and confirmed by a former US military ordnance disposal technician.
