Star Wars fans saw their long-held wish come true when Darth Jar Jar’s appearance was teased in the new Lego Star Wars special, but there’s no way to believe it’s real I’m having a hard time with it.

A dark side version of everyone’s favorite Gungan was introduced today in the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy trailer. Duel of the Fates features inverted space footage of his X-Wing-like TIE fighter, but the biggest highlight of the trailer is Jar Jar wielding a red lightsaber and unleashing a menacing is. The evil version of the character has been a joke among Star Wars fans for years, but now Disney has officially introduced the character.

“Mesa is going to hurt you,” Darth Jar Jar says as he exits the Sith version of the Millennium Falcon.

It’s not quite the live-action Darth Jar Jar that some fans claim might exist, but it might be the closest we’ll ever get. If you listen closely, you’ll also notice that original actor Ahmed Best is back to voice the character in the Lego spin-off.

Jar Jar was hated by many when he first appeared in Star Wars, but audiences have come to appreciate and enjoy the character over time. Today’s release of Darth Jar Jar shows that Lucasfilm is ready to celebrate the Gungans once again, with the likes of Luke Skywalker himself and Mark Hamill on board. We chimed in to share his excitement..
